Daniel 7:10-14
Dan 7:10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.
Dan 7:11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
Dan 7:12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.
Dan 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
Dan 7:14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
7-year covenant
My first objective is to explain what time frame these events entail. In Daniel 9:27 we read of a 7 week covenant, in Hebrew the word used here for week literally means a 7 which can refer to 7 days 7 years etc…
Dan 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
Notice here the prince is not capitalized meaning not deity or not God in other words..
Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
This is the last event to happen in Daniels 70 week prophecy. This prince here is believed to be the lawless one or as John states in his epistles the antichrist, which in turn is the beast. It’s not my intention to get into a deep explanation as to why, perhaps another paper.
The reason I believe that the writings contained here in Daniel are during the 7-year covenant or as some state the 7 year tribulation are basic.
One the Judgment is set, we don’t ever read of a judgment prior to the 7-year covenant.
Two this can’t be the great white throne because no ones life is prolonged for a season and time after that. Rev 20.
Three the Son of man comes in the clouds of heaven. When the Lord Jesus was on earth he said this…
Mat 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Mat 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
That’s why I believe these events stated in Daniel 7 are clearly within the 7 year covenant.
The Son of man Judges at his coming.
This is a recurring theme throughout the New Testament.
Matthew 25 we read of the details as to how people are judged at the Lords coming.
2Ti 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
Rev 6:16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
The Lord Jesus slays the beast
Again this is stated in the New Testament as well.
2Th 2:8 and then shall be revealed the Lawless One, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the manifestation of his presence,
2Th 2:9 him, whose presence is according to the working of the Adversary, in all power, and signs, and lying wonders, - YLT
Rev 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
Rev 19:17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
Rev 19:18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
Rev 19:19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
Rev 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
Rev 19:21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.
The Son of man comes before the end of the 7-year covenant?
If you read these verses carefully you will notice that something happens after the Son of man comes.
Dan 7:12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.
Even after the beast is slain the rest of these kings or beasts have their life prolonged for a season and time. A season in the Hebrew is defined as a “period of time” and time is defined as year. So these beasts have there lives prolonged for a period of time unknown and a year.
If these beasts had there lives prolonged then how is it possible that the Son of man could come at the end of this 7-year covenant. After the 7-year covenant is the millennial reign. There does need to be a season and time before this to allow the prolonging of life given to these kings.
Now if my understanding of these verses is true it should fit into scripture.
The shorting of the 7-year covenant is reiterated in Matthew.
Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Knowing that the beast is slain a season and time before the end of the 7 year covenant. We can come to the conclusion that other places in scripture where the beast is slain will include the same time frame.
Rev 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
I believe here that this period is often mistaken as being at the end of the 7 year covenant. However this period is just another way of explaining the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ or the Son of Man and will happen a season and time before the end of the 7-year period. The events here in Revelation may seem a lot different, but the same thing happens as when the son of man is described as coming in glory other times in scripture, he takes the beast and throws him into the lake of fire. Therefore I infer that Revelation 19 is the coming of the Son of man.
Dominion taken.
The Dominion of this world is taken from men and given to the Lord.
Dan 7:14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
2Ti 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall
judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
Dan 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a
kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to
other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it
shall stand for ever.
Dan 2:45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain
without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
